RCC Nursing Program Information

Eight community college programs, including the Rogue Community College Associate of Applied Science Nursing Program, and the four campuses of Oregon Health & Science University School of Nursing have formed a consortium that offer a shared competency-based curriculum.  The core competencies address the need for nurses to be skilled in clinical judgment and critical thinking; evidence-based practice; relationship-centered care; interdisciplinary collaboration; assisting individuals and families in self-care practices for promotion of health and management of chronic illness; and teaching, delegation, leadership and supervision of caregivers.

Students planning to apply to enter the RCC Nursing Program (first year nursing courses, new curriculum) in 2009 will need to complete prerequisites and that will be explained at the Nursing Program Information Session.  For those applying for fall 2009, the advising guide is available at http://www2.roguecc.edu/AlliedHealth/Nursing/200809ADN/Fall2008EntryAdvisingGuide.pdf . Information regarding the selection process and application deadlines will be available on the Nursing website - http://learn.roguecc.edu/AlliedHealth/Nursing/prenursing.htm once OCNE discussion is finalized in October.  Students who plan to apply to the RCC Nursing Program in the future must attend an information meeting before calling the department for an appointment with a nursing advisor.
