Borrowing Library Materials

Your library card is valid at RCC libraries and Jackson County libraries.

Books and other materials from the RCC general collection may be checked out for three weeks and renewed twice (if no holds are pending) in person, by phone or online. Overdue fines on our general collection materials are 20 cents per item per day; maximum of $10.00 per item.

Course Reserves
Loan periods vary and reserve room materials must be returned directly to the RCC library. No renewals are allowed, and overdue fines are assessed at 25 cents per item per hour; maximum of $10.00 per item. Holds may be placed on reserve material by phone or in person, up to 1 day in advance.

Southern Oregon University Library
RCC students enrolled in at least a one credit class have checkout privileges at SOU. Access the SOU library catalog to request books for delivery to Redwood, Riverside, and Table Rock. Books are loaned and may be renewed (if no holds are pending) in person, by phone or online. Photo ID and proof of mailing address will be required if using the SOU library in person. http://lib.sou.edu/screens/opacmenu.html

Interlibrary loan

Interlibrary loan (ILL) enables RCC students, faculty, and staff to obtain materials that are not available in local libraries. Community library users are not eligible for this service, but should contact their public library.
The lending library determines whether a particular item can be provided, and the length of time it is on loan.
How long will it take?
The time it takes to receive requested material generally depends upon the location of the lending library. Materials borrowed from Pacific Northwest libraries can be expected within five days to two weeks. Items from libraries in other parts of the country may take three or four weeks.
How long may I keep the library's materials?
Generally materials are checked out for two weeks. Renewals are sometimes possible if requested prior to due date.
How do I submit a request?
As a first step, check to be sure that the material is not availably locally. Next check the SOU library catalog to see if the material is available there. If the item is not found, then use First Search for access to WorldCat and several other databases.
