Your story should be approximately 2-3 minutes with a maximum of 5 minutes.
Gather 15-30 images that surround a common theme and organize them into a time-based slide presentation. Your completed project should be placed inside a webpage. The Flash movie itself may play straight through in a “linear” fashion OR you can create buttons that will facilitate user interactivity (navigation.) Please format your slideshow using a consistent color scheme and use appropriate typeface(s). The use of sound is, once again, optional.
Aside from the above suggestions, there are no strict technical requirements for this project. Here are some guidelines, however, to help you get started:
Consider the optimal height and width dimensions for the images as well as their placement within the Flash movie. What size should the movie be?
How will the movie fit into a web page? Will it be centered on a black background or nestled into one corner of a textured user interface?
What kind of interactive elements would make sense for this type of project? Back and forward buttons? A pause button?
Will the movie incorporate sound or use timeline transitions in an interesting way? Cross-fades, wipes, etc.
Use of Photoshop’s Automated Web Gallery feature may be desirable for pre-processing your images but this is not a requirement.
Create and publish an interactive website that demonstrates your grasp of the course learning objectives. Your project must include eight or more of the following:
Text and/or animated text (10 pts)
Symbols and instances (10 pts)
Your contact information (10 pts)
Consistent, appropriate aesthetics (10 pts)
Buttons with at least one defined state (10 pts)
At least one example of frame animation (10 pts)
At least one example of tweening (10 pts)
One or more nested movie clips (10 pts)
Use of ActionScript to control the navigation and/or the timeline (10 pts)
Finished project must be optimized for a specific delivery rate --Define your own target, e.g. 56k or broadband. This decision should be based largely upon target audience (10 pts)
Please make sure the project is professional and that it will appeal to the target audience.
